About us
In the year of 2013, NGO registered named “INSTITUTE OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT” with the 10 light minded Mothers, NGO come into existence, aim to working against Drug and Alcohol that spoil the life of youth. Later the Ngo was renamed as MOTHER’S VISION under the chairmanship of smtyjumdeyomgamgamlin, and the other founders’ members were 1.KembiJini Bagra,2.Kirbom PaduEte 3.,Tobom Ete Padu. 4. Kari Kamum Basar.5. Tai Meena Doji 6.Pejum Ete Ado 7.Yagam Ingo Ete 8. GebomEte Padu.,9 Kennedy bagraand 10.Adv. KembomBagra. The main objectives of NGO is to concentrate ondrugs addiction and cleanliness of the surrounding and environment of Aalo Town and nearby area.
Each members of the mother’s vision is social oriented. They are also associated with many social concerns outside the periphery of the NGO. As an individual’s, they all are highly respected and have their own identity in respective fields of social works. However, they all are abiding with the fundamental principles of the organization: they will work as volunteers, they are non-profitable, they are non-religious, they are non-political, not to drag the name of the organization for personal reasons and no publicity of mother’s vision.
The mother’svision started to carry out its awareness campaigns, orientation sessions, workshops, anonymous counseling etc, started from Aalo town than it extended to nearby Village and Schools of west Siang district and other District of A.P. In all these programs, it has been found that addiction involves more than use of drugs and alcohol. It affects every affair of one’s life in which family’s members becomes the immediate victims. They have also learnt that, in most cases, without proper therapy, the recovering addict still have unresolved dysfunctional psychological and behavioral issues which is cause by addiction and for which, they lack the perspectives to see positives changes in staying clean.
The purposeful journey got its right direction in 2014,when Kennedy Bagra a recovery addict joined Mother’s Vision team and he with his experience plants the soft points for campaigning, identification of target group. He designed presentation for school, community meeting and interactive sessions with youth etc. The mother’s vision office was extended into” AFTER CARE CENTRE” to take care of recovering addicts from 9 to 12 noon and 5 to 9 evening as these are considered as pick hour of craving for substances. During these hours, they are counseled besides indoor gaming are provided to keep them diverted on healthy habits.Meanwhile, escorting misguided youths suffering from addictionto rehabilitation centers across the country was also kept in continuation. Tilltoday, the numbers of youths that have been escorted to rehabilitation centers out of state ismore than 100 plus and they are coming back main stream of lives.
Due to the good work done by mother’s vision. the society started to trust the good will mission of our NGO. Well-wishers then suggested having a confidential office so that concern parents can approach to seek and avail helps. Unfortunately, escorting of youths to rehabilitation center out of state becoming another issue to be faced by parents. Transportation expenses surfaced as another troubling issue again for family members who wish to seek the treatment. Most found it unaffordable. Such issues made the NGO to think further and beyond. Once again, they decided to run a de-addiction cum rehabilitation Centre on self-help basis involving those recovering addicts escorted earlier. They set up 20 bedded 100 daysde-addiction cum rehabilitation centre having no any outside contribution. The land and structure areprovided by Mr.Damka Gamlin husband of SmtyJumdeYomgam Gamlin on minimal rent for the defined purposed. The100 days De-addiction cum Rehabilitation centre is manage onself-help basis and contribution of the members of NGO itself. A team had to travel in work places to bring addicts to rehabilitation Centre. It was always very risky task because addicts often try to escape, other time become violent and sometimes even goes out of control. They need doses at intervals throughout the journey to cope up with life threatening physical withdrawals. The bigger threats were managing psychological behavior of addicts at any cost and circumstances until they are up to destinations. Some pains are unbearable second times.
At present, Mother’s vision has its subordinate units and many branches in near by locality in order to provide closest helps. They train and motivate communities to form bodies to fight against addiction. The branch members are regularly given training on coping skills, methods to deal with, how to conduct public meeting, school presentations and community interactions. The network is indeed very effective, travelling and connecting people. The work has given them identity and recognition. However, the mother’s vision works in silence. The members are prohibited from Promotion of its service towards people. The public relation of the Mother’s Vision is based on attractions rather than promotions. In spite of that, the great work has built them trustworthy. The governor supported them with a fund to avail a vehicle to carry out the mission at larger extent. Other prominent facilitations made them proud indeed. But NGO knows it has multiplied responsibilities more towards the mission. There are more dedicated and determined like ever more.
While working in the field we have observed that without follow-up action a recovery addict could not remain clean of his own without the guidance. For this we Mother’s Vision set up a Recovery Club at Upper colony on self-helpbasis. Tillnow more than thirty recovery addicts are taking the advantage recovery club.
